GreenCell Mobility Ltd a pan-India shared electric mobility player has received an order from the Transport Department of NCT Delhi for 570 electric buses, reports EV Tech News, a subsidiary of Motorindia. The tender was issued by Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL), a government undertaking responsible for the largest tender for E-buses ever in India, the National E-bus Program (NEBP). The coming years tenders for a total of 6,465 E-Buses will be issued in India.
According to EV Tech News GreenCell aims to become a leading pan-India shared electric mobility player. COO Sumit Mittal of GreenCell Mobility noted that the government of India I aiming to deploy 50,000 E-buses on Indian roads in the next few years while modernizing and strengthening green public transportation in India. GreenCell offered a bid for 1,900 12 metre low floor e-buses, in the CESL tender of which now 570 buses are warded to GreenCell. Mandatory is that the e-buses are to be deployed within
the next two years. EV Tech News states that this bid expands the B2G portfolio of GreenCell by more than 60% and expands GreenCell’s presence across India. GreenCell is already implementing close to 1,500 E-buses in India in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, New Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh of which more than 700 E-buses are operational across 23 cities.
